META - by Tom Reynolds

Ok..I'm back again after a long time.. I've been doing stuff in and out, and due to the Corona lockdown, I've returned to this little page.

Ok..on with the review.

The story will be of major interest to Marvel and DC fans (mainly DC, due to the title.. figure it out) if not addictive. The story is about an ordinary teenager named Connor Connolly. He lives in a world of superhumans (aka metas), who have (obviously) superpowers. Thing is, Connor hates them. One of the metas who went crazy, killed his parents when he was very young. Fortunately, he's got his older brother Derrick, who works as a journalist, and mostly works from home. So, Connor is basically a geek. Geek, nerd whatever. He's a guy who likes hanging out, but not too much. So, when one day his best friend Jim takes him to a part in the middle of the woods, he finds a kidnapping of a little girl. By a middle aged man. He tries to be heroic, tackles the guy, but gets stabbed. That's pretty bad right?
Surprise. He's alive and healthy, with an extra power. He's a meta!

Then the story goes on to how he gets to control his abilities, and fights a so-called 'successor' of his parents' murderer. You'll be surprised with what he can do if you didn't know about Marvel and DC.
Still, it is a pretty good book, even if you don't compare with Marvel. It's got action, comedy, and romance (though it's very less). That's it folks. See you later with a new book in tow!!

Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse

And we're back in the game, people. Sorry it's been so long since I made my last post. I've been busy with reading other books that might pique interests.

Anyways, the third book's about Percy getting a little more mature, a little more responsible. He turns fourteen, but with his experience in the demigod world, that's saying a lot. Considering he's also a child of the Big Three.

Speaking of the Big Three, another Big Three kid shows up as well. If you've read the Sea of Monsters, you'll know that her name's Thalia Grace. And she's 16. So in this book, the "Titan's Curse" talks about the curse of a really well-known Titan on his daughter. His daughter's name is Zöe Nightshade. And yes, the 'o' has an accent.
She's one of the Hunters of Artemis. Artemis's lieutenant, actually. And if you want the list of gods in this book, it'll be Apollo and Artemis, and the 12 Olympians,
though the Olympians will come up at the end of the story.

The story starts with Grover calling Percy, Annabeth and Thalia about finding two demigods, Bianca and Nico di Angelo. Binaca's 13 while Nico's 11. When they reach Westover Hall, where the kids were, they encounter a monster (obviously). During the fight, Annabeth falls into the ocean. And technically gets captured. Then Artemis shows up and speaks of a powerful monster that she hadn't hunted in many millennia. Later, we get to know that she also gets captured by the same guy who got Annabeth. Any guesses? Yep. Luke Castellan. He was under the orders of a 'General' of the Titans, which is why the book is named the "Titan's Curse." The General is actually Atlas, a lesser Titan. He was punished by the gods in ancient times, and his punishment was to hold up the sky. Instead we find Annabeth and Artemis taking turns doing it for him. Not willingly, though. Then we have the typical Percy Jackson saving the day, and the story ends. It's not much of a story, bit it's crucial in the storyline.

Thanks for reading this guys. I'll be back soon with the next review. About the battle of the labyrinth. Till then, adiós!

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

Ok, so after The Lightning Thief comes The Sea of Monsters.  Before you read this, I suggest you read The Lightning Thief  so that you can understand the storyline. All the books are connected, they are not separate adventures.

So, in this book, Percy is shown as a person who is still getting his bearings in the new 'Greek' world. For example, he still doesn't get what his role is to win the war against the Titan Kronos, or if he is being observed by his dad, Poseidon, or if he could help Luke see the bright side of helping the gods.

But this book has quite a few twists; the movie is different from the book, though. Get ready for Percy's new adventure, into the Sea of  Monsters, or as we mortals know it, the Bermuda Triangle.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

This is my first blog, and I have a VERY deep interest in reading books, so I thought I would start a book review blog.

The first book (series, if you'd like to call it that) I'm going to talk about is the Percy Jackson series, written by Rick Riordan.
This series contains many books, some as a sub-series as well, which I will discuss about later.

→ 1st book/Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief  - The entire Percy Jackson series deals with the interaction between the modern world and the Greek/Roman gods. As many are aware of, the Greek empire in the past was conquered by the later-emerging Romans. Thus, the Greek gods' personality was changed by the Romans as more war-like, disciplined and strict. The Romans, for these characteristics, were regarded as one of the most powerful empires of the world.

So, coming to the story, Percy Jackson, the protagonist, leads a normal life, but cannot read normally English like us due to him being dyslexic. He later finds out that his father is ancient Greek god, Poseidon - the god of oceans, earthquakes, storms, and horses. But his mother is a mortal - a normal human. Thus, he is known as a "demigod". Due to this, Percy gets targeted by many ancient 'monsters' which will make you enjoy the book if you're into action and god-like power.

There are some other interesting people in the book also, and only if you read the book can you understand them.

I think that this book will be a good start for teens who are starting to take an interest in reading books, as it fits in perfectly in the teenager world, and people can understand how Percy feels in the book. On the whole, the entire Percy Jackson books series is well-known and interesting by people of almost all ages. So, I think it's a great start for people who want a nice pastime when they're alone.

So, that's it for this post. In the next one (when I have the time to do it, that is) I will discuss about the second and third books ("Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters" and "Percy Jackson and The Titan's Curse" respectively). Thanks for viewing this post guys! See you later!

SPOILER ALERT!

Oh, by the way, for those wondering, Percy can control water...😊
